Identification
Body length of 46 cm, tail length of 46 cm, weight of 3 kg. Long furry tail. Conspicuous hair tufts on each sides of head, large beard. Fur coloration mostly black with a large reddish-brown to orange area on shoulders and upper back.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, in the Guianas and north Brazil, between Amazon river and Rio Branco. Lives in rainforests, wooded savannas, mostly in montane areas.

Status : This species occurs in legally protected areas and its range remains hardly accessible. It is considered safe at this time.
