Identification
Adults can reach a length of 18 cm, males being larger than females. Rounded snout, prominent tympanum. Skin fold from eye to end of back on each sides of body. Coloration dark beige-grey to brown with dark spots on lips and limbs.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in most of tropical South America, from Colombia, Venezuela and Guianas to central-south Brazil, Ecuador and Peru. Lives in tropical rainforest and dry forests, sometimes far from water, up to 1200 m.

Status : The species has a very large range and remains common in many parts. It also occurs in protected areas.
