Identification
Slender-bodied viper with prehensile tail, reaching a total length of 80 cm. Broad triangular head. Coloration is green mottled with black. Black skin between scales. Head yellowish-green with extensive black markings.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in Central America and is found from Central Costa Rica to western Panama. Lives in lower montane wet and cloud forests, high montane forests.

Status : The species remains fairly common in areas of undisturbed habitat.
