Identification
Adults can reach more than 15 cm in length. Triangular head, distinct from body. Back and flank scales are arranged in rows, making them look as if they’re imbricated. Coloration usually beige to light brown.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in Central America and is endemic to Mexico. It is found in most states of the north and north-central parts of the country. Lives in pine-oak and oak forests, grasslands, from 1200 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN (as B. imbricata)
CITES : Not listed
Status : This species has no IUCN red list status yet but is considered to be fairly common throughout its range. Threatened by habitat loss.
