Identification
The species has a length of 1.5 m. Coloration looks similar to Black-headed python but more orange. Body is beige to olive with vertical bands on flanks and back. Head is dull orange to dark beige, often with dark markings around eyes.

Range and habitat
This species is endemic to north Australia and has a fragmented range going from western Australia to south Northern Territory and New South Wales. Lives in dry scrublands and savannas, forests and farmlands.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is still widespread but some populations are declining alarmingly. Overall the threats it could be facing need to be better understood.
