Identification
Body length of 61 cm, tail length up to 85 cm for a weight up to 7 kg. Long hairs, especially on the back and flanks. Coloration is usually dark grey with clearer grey-white area on breast and belly, whitish area on back of head and top of mantle. Long dirty-white tail. Face naked with bare dark blue skin around the nose and cheeks, pinkish lips and conspicuous round white markings surrounding the eyes.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to Peninsular Malaysia, south of Perlis and now also occurs in Singapore. Species found north of Perlis to south-east Thailand and south Myanmar and on various small islands around south Thailand and Malaysia. It lives in tropical forests but can also use urban gardens and disturbed forests.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is listed as endangered by IUCN Red List because most of its insular populations are under severe threat from poaching and habitat loss. However this particular subspecies, although threatened, is the most numerous and is actually expanding its range to Singapore, causing problems with the island’s habitats and indigenous species.
