Identification
Adults can reach a length of 6 cm with females being larger than males. Smooth skin. Coloration very variable, from coppery brown to black with patterns of curving stripes and bands being blue to light green.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Central America, from southern Nicaragua to Costa Rica, Panama and extreme west Colombia. Lives in primary lowland and submontane rainforests, also plantations, to 1000 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species remains at least locally common within its range. It is thought to remain safe but has been heavily trapped for international trade.
