Identification
Body length of 110 cm, shoulder-height of 80 cm, weight of 100 kg. Thick skin with prominent wrinkles, short tail with small hair tuft. Males have prominent canines emerging from mouth and forehead. Species almost hairless.

Range and habitat
This species is endemic to the northern parts of the island of Sulawesi, in central Indonesia. Lives in tropical rainforests, often near swamps and riverine areas.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix I
Status : This species has disappeared from many areas in Sulawesi (especially north) because of overhunting and habitat destruction.
