Identification
Adults can reach a total length of 22 cm for a weight around 200 g. Coloration silvery grey, becoming white on belly. Presence of five broad vertical black bars on flanks. Upper flanks have a slight yellow tinge.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in tropical and subtropical Atlantic Ocean, east around African coasts and Cape Verde, west from USA to Uruguay and Caribbean sea. Mostly found over shallow reef tops and tide pools, down to 20 meters.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : Probably the commonest damselfish in tropical Atlantic Ocean. It faces no known threats at this time.
