Identification
Adults can reach a total length of 96 cm. Triangular head with slightly upturned snout. Coloration dark brown to black with faint yellowish-brown transversal lines. Yellow and white lines on whole lips, behind eyes and on snout.
Range and habitat
This species is endemic to north-east Mexico and occurs in the states of Nuevo Leon, north San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and extreme east Hidalgo. Lives in dry thorny forests, woodlands and tropical deciduous forests, near water.

Status : This is a rare species, occurring at low densities. Populations may be declining due to over trapping for wildlife trade and loss of habitat.
