Identification
Large species, fleshy lips. Dusky blue to silvery flanks with golden-orange spots. Bright yellow spot near tail peduncle. Head yellow to golden-orange with wavy intricate blue lines.
Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific area, from Andaman Islands to Palau and Papua New Guinea, north to Taiwan and south Japan. Found in mangroves, around turbid inshore reefs, often near seagrass beds.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range and doesn’t seem to be uncommon. It is overexploited for food and for the trade and declines have been noted. Monitoring of such activities is needed.
