Identification
Dark glossy blue forehead, crown, cheeks, wings and back, purple-blue tinge on back and wings. Breast glossy purple, lower breast and belly orange buff to rufous. Orange eyes, black face band.
Range and habitat
East Africa, from north-central Kenya to north-central Tanzania. Found in open woodlands and open thornbush country, sometimes cattle enclosures, from 500 to 2200 m.

Status : This species is uncommon to locally common but it doesn’t suffer from any threats. Its habitat is yet intact in many places and it is very rarely captured for the trade or hunted.
