Identification
Body length of 17 cm, tail length of 28 cm, weight of 255 g. Long furry tail, large ears with inside pinkish. Fur is mostly gray with a beige tinge on flanks and limbs. Dark markings around eyes. Chin, breast and belly white.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in southern Africa from Angola and south-east DR Congo to Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and northern South-Africa. Lives in woodlands, wooded savannas, gallery forests and forest edges.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is common around its range and can live in close contact with humans, using urban parks as habitat and construction for roosting.
