Identification
Adults grow to 46 cm for a weight of 380 g. Bright green plumage with yellow tinge on neck and breast. Red eye-ring with small white line above and longer white line below. Long white-tipped crest. Subspecies with dull violet-blue tail and wings.

Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs from coastal Tanzania through Mozambique and northern South Africa. Species occurs from Tanzania and Burundi to Kwazulu Natal in northeast South Africa. Lives in evergreen forests from the coastline to 2500 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species isn’t threatened at this point and remains locally common. Deforestation is very likely an upcoming threat. Tanzanian populations trapped for the trade.
