Identification
Unmistakable. Concave forehead, very long pointed black and white fins. Yellow eyes. Whole body silvery-white with alternating broad and thin vertical black bands.

Range and habitat
South Indian and Pacific Ocean, endemic to south-Australian coasts, from Perth to Brisbane. Found around estuaries, seagrass beds and near inshore and offshore rocky reefs.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a small range but its habitat seems safe at this time. It is very rarely collected for the aquarium trade and no threats are known at this time.
