Identification
Plumage mostly bright red except for black wings and lower back. Bright orange bill, violet belly. Subspecies with no violet on pure red breast and head, limited violet patches on belly and nape.

Range and habitat
Subspecies endemic to the northern islands of Bisa and Obi in north Moluccas archipelago. Found in lowland and hill forests, forest edges, plantations and mangroves, to 1220 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : Restricted-range species, still locally common but intensely traded from many parts of its range. Monitoring is needed to ensure no declines exist. This subspecies is quite rare in aviculture.
