Identification
Plumage mostly bright red with rows of black feathers on wings, black flight feathers, tail and back. Dark red belly. Blue band from ear to neck and bright blue streaks on nape and upper back.

Range and habitat
Endemic to Tanimbar islands in Central-eastern Indonesia. Introduced on Babar, Damar and Kai. Found in coastal secondary forests, inland primary forests, plantations and mangroves.

Conservation
IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : Restricted-range species, still common in coastal habitats but locally intensely traded. Some populations are still safe but trade and habitat loss are possible threats in the future.
