Identification
Flanks creamy-white with faint blue line on scales. Head olive-brown. Black spot near end tip of dorsal fin, on back. Blue lines and dots around face, belly and cheeks from cream to dull yellow.
Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, from Nicobar Islands to Vanuatu, to south Japan and Great Barrier Reef. Found around silty areas of lagoons and coastal coral reefs.

Status : The species has a fairly large range. It could be locally vulnerable to habitat loss. Rarely trapped for the trade and not caught for food.
