Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Slightly protruding lips, eye with yellow contour. Flanks color orange to red-orange with thin light blue to violet horizontal lines. Light dotting around face, blue snout, conspicuous white tail fin.

Range and habitat
Central Pacific ocean, around US Minor Islands, Line, Society, Rapa and Austral islands. Found near coral reefs, from shallow waters to at least 30 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is relatively common within its range. It is locally caught for the trade but this doesn’t seem to be a threat at this time. It occurs in protected areas.
