Identification
One of the largest members of its genus, long tail. Back, wings, upper tail and sides of head brown with purple tinge, no orange collar around neck. Subspecies with almost pure white crown.

Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs in western Africa, from Senegal and Gambia to south Mali and north Ivory Coast. Found in gallery forests and dry savanna and woodlands, plantations and gardens.

Status : The species is widespread and adaptable. It is sometimes trapped for food or for the trade but this isn’t believed to be a big threat. Subspecies omoensis poorly known.
