Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Pink face, orange-red cap, breast and last third of flanks. Middle flanks olive-green to bluish. Black blotch on tail peduncle. Blue edges and markings on dorsal, caudal and anal fins.

Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, from east Africa to Tuamoto islands. Found around coral reefs, often near rubble areas with water current. Associated with mushroom corals.

Status : This species is likely a species complex and its taxonomy and conservation status need to be revised. At this time, the species as it is is widespread but caught regularly for the trade.
