Identification
Unmistakable. Bright blue bare skin with rows of black feathers on top of head. Female brown, male iridescent green on belly, red wings, yellow shoulder cape, curved ornamental feathers.
Range and habitat
Endemic to the west Papuan islands of Waigeo and Batanta. Found in hilly and mountain rainforest, from 300 to 1200 m.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : Restricted range species, very poorly known and population likely to be low. Threatened by deforestation in most of the low altitude parts of its range. Trapped for trade and for its feathers.
