Identification
The species can grow to 35 cm. Elongated body, blue with reddish tinge on belly and tail fin. Tail fin with elongated lobes, dark tips. Two thin dark yellow longitudinal bands on flanks, one on lateral line, going above it near tail peduncle.
Range and habitat
The species is found in the Indo-Pacific area, from East Africa to Marquesas Islands, north to south Japan, south to north Australia. Lives in coral reefs around islands and away from large land masses, to 30 m deep.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is exploited but mostly for fishing in parts of its range. This isn’t believed to be a threat at this time and the species remains widespread.
