Identification
Adults will grow to 12 cm in length. Female pink with yellow back and edges on tail fins. Male with greatly elongated and broad fins and pointed elongated upper lip. Male coloration bright pink to violet-pink with yellow throat and upper lip.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Mauritius to Solomon Islands and Philippines, north to south Japan, south to Great Barrier reef. Lives in continental reefs and outer reef slopes, from 2 to 40 meters deep.

Status : The species is regularly collected but is widespread and remains common to abundant in most of its range. Trading levels need to be monitored.
