Identification
The species grows to 14 cm long. Elongated, mostly orange body. Male much brighter, with pink mottling and markings and pink band going from eye to belly. Fins orange with pink spotting, caudal fin lunate.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, from south Japan to Taiwan. Lives in deep rocky reefs, from at least 30 meters deep to more than 100 meters.

Status : The species has a small range but seems to live in areas where no threats are known.
