Identification
Adults can grow to 48 cm long. Forehead slightly concave, big eyes. Coloration from dark brown to nearly black. Numerous white to golden yellow dots on fins and on flanks, some dots on middle flanks being often slightly bigger.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area from Andaman islands to Philippines and Indonesia, east to New Guinea, Australia and Solomon Islands. Lives in river mouths, estuaries and mangroves, mostly in brackish waters.
