Identification
Adults grow to 40 cm in length. Fairly high dorsal and anal fins. Coloration brown with darker rear half of flanks, fore-half of flanks with olive-yellow tinge. Very thin lines on flanks and small clear dots on greyer face. Orange eyes.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from East Africa to Tuamoto Islands, north to south Japan, south to Lord Howe Island. Lives in coral-rich areas of lagoons and seaward reefs, to 60 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range and is widespread. It is rarely targeted by fisheries and collection for the aquarium isn’t believed to be a threat.
