Identification
Body length of 46 cm, tail length of 49 cm, weight of 4.8 kg. Males larger than females. Heavy built and large face. Fur mostly dark golden brown, becoming completely black on tail, head and lower limbs. Light hairs around face.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in South America, from eastern Colombia and south Venezuela to Guianas, south to central Brazil. Species also found on Margarita island. Lives in lowland and montane forests, gallery and flooded forests, to 1000 m.

Status : The species seems to remain common in the wild at this time and is safe as it occurs in a wide variety of forested habitats.
