Identification
Adults can reach 85 cm for a weight of 3,6 kg. Both sexes with ridges on casque and bill. Female is black with blue throat pouch, male has cream head, brown nape, white breast and yellow throat pouch. Throat pouch with dark band.

Range and habitat
Nominate subspecies is found from Bhutan and Myanmar to Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java and Bali. The other subspecies is endemic to Borneo. Lives in primary evergreen and selectively logged forests, to 2560 m.

Status : The species is still locally common but has suffered steep declines because of habitat loss and intensive hunting, still happening to this day
