Identification
Adults can reach up to 60 cm in length. Small round head, large hump on back with broad dorsal fin, crescent-shaped body. Juveniles display broad vertical black bars and dark fins. Adults are olive-grey to brown with broad longitudinal band.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in eastern Asia and is endemic to China, being found in the Yangtze river basin. Lives in main medium to slow-flowing river sections.
