Identification
Adults can reach 38 cm in length. Deeply concave forehead, broad and dark fan-shaped pelvic fins. Coloration beige to creamy-grey with numerous dark dots forming broad diagonal bands on flanks. Yellow tail fin with black vertical bands.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in western Pacific Ocean area, from Malaysia and Indonesia to south Japan, Samoa and north Australia. Lives in coastal areas, estuaries, on muddy or silty substrates, from 5 to 50 m.
