Identification
The species grows to 11 cm for a weight of 11 g. Both sexes with olive back and dark olive wings, yellow belly and lower breast. Males have iridescent violet-blue feathers on forehead and most of breast. Female lacks these feathers.
Range and habitat
Species found from Myanmar and south China to Indonesia. Subspecies occurs in Malaysia, Greater and Lesser Sundas. Lives in forest edges, mangroves, urban parks, plantations, to 1700 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a huge range and can adapt well to life in human settlements. Capture for trade doesn’t seem to be a real threat so far except around Java and possibly Sumatra.
