Identification
The species can reach 8 cm in length. Body color bluish-grey with horizontal bright orange-yellow bands. Face orange with light blue to white lines. Big eye with two blue-white lines. Fins translucent with pink-orange iridescence.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from the Persian Gulf and Red Sea to East Africa, to Tonga and Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Australia. Lives in sheltered clearwater areas of lagoons and seaward reefs, to 15 m.

Status : The species seems to be safe at this time. With captive breeding, collection of wild specimens is less of a problem. Loss of habitat is a potential threat.
