Identification
The species grows to 26 cm in length. Long snout, dorsal fin tip round (not elongated). Coloration dirty silvery white with clumps of dark dots on upper flanks. Five broad vertical brown bars with light edges from head to tail peduncle.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the south-western Pacific Ocean and is endemic to Australian coastal waters from south Queensland to New South Wales. Lives in coastal bays and estuaries, near vertical rock walls, from 10 to 70 m deep.

Status : The species is found in relatively safe and intact habitats. It is collected for the trade in small numbers and this doesn’t seem to be a threat.
