Identification
Adults can reach a body length of 19 cm for a weight of 61 g. Large head, long tail, fairly big gray bill with two tooth-like projections from the upper mandible. Coloration mostly brown with white belly, black wings and bright red head.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in eastern Africa from south Somalia to south-central Mozambique, mostly around coastline and inland near rivers. Lives in riverine forests, forest patches and forest edges, to 1700 meters.
