Identification
The species grows to 25 cm in length. Laterally compressed with long snout, slightly protruding lips and medium-deep body. Coloration silvery with evenly spaced thick black longitudinal bands with thinner broken black bands in between.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Western Pacific Ocean, from southern Japan and south-east China to the Philippines. Lives in inshore areas, especially brackish waters.

Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed. It might be occasionally caught but doesn’t seem to be a target for local fisheries.
