Identification
Adults can grow to 14,5 cm in length. Body orange, lighter near tail peduncle with black spotted lateral line and darker snout. Conspicuous bright blue lines on upper lip, snout and eyes. Black ring on tail, extremities wider than center.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Red Sea and East Africa to Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia, north to south Japan. Lives in rocky and coral reefs, down to 40 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range and remains locally common at least. Could be threatened by loss of habitats in parts of its range.
