Identification
The species grows to 87 cm in length for a weight of 8,4 kg. Humped back and straight snout profile with pointed mouth. Coloration yellowish to bronze with light dot on each flank scales. Broad vertical blue band behind cheeks and eyes.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Red Sea and East Africa to Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to Australia. Lives in coastal and offshore reefs, sandy areas, mangroves, to 75 meters deep.

Status : The species has a huge range and seems relatively common. However it is declining in areas where fishing pressure is too high.
