Identification
The species can reach 1,80 m for a weight of 46 kg. Elongated body, fairly small head with pointed snout. Large falcate tail fin, rest of fins are small. Dark olive blue to green on back and flanks, white on belly. Two longitudinal blue lines.
Range and habitat
Western Atlantic Ocean from north USA to Brazil, eastern Atlantic from Cote d’Ivoire to Angola. Indo-Pacific from Red Sea and East Africa to Ecuador. Sometimes found over reefs, usually far from coast in open waters, to 150 m.

Status : The species has a large range and is locally abundant. It is locally targeted by fisheries but this activity is small scale only and not threatening.
