Identification
Adults can grow to 45 cm in length. Short head, small mouth with protruding fleshy lips. Coloration silvery grey-white with oblique orange-brown bands on flanks. Fins light brown, tail peduncle and fin orange-brown with white round spots.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Pacific Ocean, from central Honshu, southwards to South China Sea and Taiwan. Lives in rocky areas in temperate and subtemperate waters. Depth unknown.
