Identification
Adults can reach 19 cm in length. Global coloration dull dark yellow to greenish-yellow with oblique rows of orange dots on flanks. Orange fin edges. Caudal fin black and white. Black head with white line going around forehead and cheeks.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from Japan to Taiwan, the South China Sea, south to Gulf of Thailand. Lives in rocky and coral reef areas, from 4 to 25 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species occurs in areas where the pressure from fisheries and pollution is intense. Seldom collected for the trade and seems safe so far.
