Identification
Body length of 83 cm, tail length of 104 cm, weight of 19 kg. Males much bigger than females. Bare blue face around eyes and snout. Very long dense yellow-red coat with longer clearer hairs over darker brown to black back. Long tail.

Range and habitat
Subspecies found in western Sichuan, southern Gansu and southern Shaanxi. Species found as three distinct populations in northern central China. Lives in mountain forests and bamboo thickets, to 3000 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species has a fragmented range and this subspecies in particular has seen its populations decline by over 50 % because of habitat loss.
