Identification
Adults can grow to a body length of 77 cm, tail length of 53 cm and weight of 6,8 kg. Coloration mostly brown to grey brown on back, creamy to white on lower flanks and belly. No markings on back. Tail tip naked and often clear.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to the Island of New Guinea where it occurs in most of western half, including west Papuan Islands such as Yapen and Misool. Lives in lowland primary and secondary rainforest, riverine forests.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a large range and seems to remain locally common. It is hunted for food in parts of its range but this doesn’t seem to be a threat.
