Identification
Adults grow to 25 cm in length for a weight of 240 g. Coloration brown with thin horizontal creamy stripes on darker wings and lighter breast. Face with circular beige stripes and white supercilium. Two rows of white spots on wings.
Range and habitat
Subspecies found from South-east China to nearby north Vietnam. Species occurs from the Himalayas to east China and south Thailand. Lives in open forests, subtropical jungles and woodlands, gardens, to 2100 m.

Status : The species has a large range and seems to successfully adapt to life near human settlements, even in cities. It doesn’t seem to be threatened.
