Identification
The species can reach 40 cm in length for a weight of 110 g. Subspecies with green plumage, clearer on belly, dark but duller on wings and tail. Light green throat. Crown uniformly very light blue, with black center and broad edges.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the northwest of South America. Subspecies found in western Ecuador and north-western Peru. It lives in lowland primary and secondary forests, forest edges.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a small range and parts of it lies in unprotected areas where deforestation occurs. Although most of its populations are declining because of habitat loss, the species isn’t believed to be threatened with extinction at this time.
