Identification
The species grows to 18 cm in length. Thick tail covered with spiny scales. Global coloration is grey-brown with clearer spots getting fainter with age. Brownish-black thin collar on lower neck, just above anterior limbs.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Madagascar and occurs in the western and south-western parts of the island, from Tuléar to Majunga province. Lives in semi-dry spiny forests.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species seems to remain stable so far and still has a large population. Its habitat is less threatened than other habitats in Madagascar.
