Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
The species grows to 20 cm in length. Rear side with bit of oval shape. Large black spot on eye and smaller spot on forehead. Body mostly white with diagonal rows of black dots. Yellow fins with red edges, yellow spot on snout.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from the Ryukyu islands to Taiwan, the Philippines, western Indonesia and south to northern Australia. Lives in coral reefs, lagoons, shallow protected reefs, down to 30 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a fairly large range but lives in areas where coral reefs are destroyed at a very fast rate. Capture for the trade is minimal.
