Identification
The species grows to 15 cm in length. Fairly deep and rectangular-shaped body. Grey face and body with orange eye-ring, dark red to purple vertical bands on flanks. Black dorsal fin, caudal peduncle and fins. Orange dots on anal fin.

Range and habitat
This species is found in the eastern Indian Ocean, from Sri Lanka to Australia, Indonesia and the Andaman Islands. Lives in seaward rocky and coral reefs, down to 30 meters deep.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a very large range and remains fairly common. Collection for the aquarium trade doesn’t seem to impact the species at this point.
