Identification
Adults can grow to 31 cm in length for a weight of 245 g. Black bill and legs. Plumage green with yellow-green streaks on front parts and nape. Black head with red forehead. Subspecies with more red on face and orange streaks on nape.
Range and habitat
Species found throughout New Guinea and on Aru Islands. This subspecies is endemic to Aru islands. Lives in savannas, forests, swamps, mangroves and plantations, to 800 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species is still common in the wild and occurs in large flocks. The levels of trade for this species need to be monitored.
