Identification
This species is one of Africa’s biggest tarantula, reaching a legspan of 20 cm. Its back legs are thick as adaptation for digging. Coloration is uniformly velvety rusty-brown with clear areas around leg joints and on end of cephalothorax.

Range and habitat
The species occurs eastern Africa and is found mostly in Tanzania and Kenya. Lives in lowland shrubland and grassland.
